Western Capitals attend ‘ Jersey Day’ at Greenfield Elementary

It was an opportunity for the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals to give back.
Capitals forward Brodie MacArthur and goaltenders Brayden Lachance and Rett Rook participated in Greenfield Elementary School’s “Jersey Day” and breakfast program on Wednesday.
“We are very proud to be part apart of such a wonderful community,” said Capitals head coach Billy McGuigan, who added the franchise takes great pride in giving back to members of their community. “We try and instill this mindset with our players as a way to give back and to learn some valuable life lessons, and meet the fans that cheer them on every night.”
A media release from the Caps goes on to say, “Lots of kids were wearing their jerseys, and got some autographs, as well as a nutritious breakfast that the players were handing out.”
This is a very rare week off for the Capitals as the Road to the Roar curling event is taking over Credit Union Place for the next week and a half.
The Capitals, who are 6- 81- 0 ( won- lost- overtime lossesshootout losses) and sit third in the very tight Eastlink North Division of the MHL ( Maritime Junior Hockey League), do not return to game action until Thursday, Nov. 9, when they travel to New Glasgow, N. S., to take on the Pictou County Crushers ( 7- 7- 1- 0).
The Crushers will provide the opposition in the Caps’ next home game at Eastlink Arena on Saturday, Nov. 18. Puck drop is 7 p. m.
