Crunch drops one-goal decisions

The Summerside Cover-All Crunch gave two of the top three teams in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League all they could handle over the weekend. The Crunch dropped a 3-2 decision to the firstplace Sherwood-Parkdale Metros on Friday night, and lost 4-3 in a shootout to the North River Flames on Saturday evening.

The Crunch, who hosts the Georgetown Eagles at The Plex in Slemon Park on Friday at 8 p.m., is 2-3-1 (won-lost-overtime losses).

At the APM Centre, Connor Andrews netted the deciding goal in the shootout after the Crunch rallied for two unanswered third-period goals to overcome a 3-1 deficit and force overtime.

Sam MacPhail and Matt Craig staked North River to a 2-0 lead after one period, and Alex Young scored in the middle frame for the third-place Flames (4-3-0).

Tanner Jamieson (1-1), Colton Morris and Chad Wilson replied for the Crunch. Ryan Sonier added two assists.

win over Isaac Stavert.

Metros 3 Crunch 2

At The Plex, Jake Arsenault (13:04) and Logan Toole (14:43) scored two quick goals late in the second period to help the Metros overcome a 2-1 deficit. Brechan MacLean opened the game’s scoring for the undefeated Metros (6-0-0) in the first period.

Tyler Hobb (1-1) and Remi Arsenault scored both Crunch goals in the second period. Winning goaltender was Blake Arsenault, and Connor Gallant was between the pipes for Summerside.
