Annual concert series for QEH kicks off Sunday

Hosts Treble with Girls welcome special guests Chaisson Trio

-

For the third year, the popular Island band, Treble with Girls, will present the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Winter Fundraising Concert Series, which kicks of this Sunday.

The 2 p.m. concert at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Hall in Stratford welcomes special guests, the Chaisson Trio, consisting of Rannie MacLellan, Louise MacKinnon and Kevin Chaisson.

With nine installments running about every second Sunday afternoon until April, audiences can expect some of the best in Island musical guests at each show as well as a 50/50 draw, weekly door prizes, a homemade lunch served at intermission, and lots of laughs along the way.

In the first two years of hosting the concert series, Treble with Girls raised over $10,000 in support of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. This year, they hope to raise that amount in just one concert season. “We have had a tremendous amount of support from the

business community this year in the form of sponsorship for which we are so grateful,” said Sheila MacKenzie, fiddle player with Treble. “This means we should be able to hit our goal of raising $10,000 for much

needed medical equipment in the 2017-18 concert series year.” Cardigan Bearing and Steel and Cardigan Feed Services have teamed up again to help in presenting the concert series. All ages are welcome with

admission by cash only at the door. Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Hall is located at 151 Stratford Road in Stratford. Entertainment starts at 2 p.m. Nov. 12 with doors opening at 1 p.m.
