The funeral for the late Gerald Lawrence Pickle of Summerside and formerly of Tignish beloved husband of the late Mary Frances nee McRae Pickle was held on Tuesday November 7, 2017 from the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church Tignish where Funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Brendon Gallant who delivered the Homily and had the prayers of fin al commendati­on and fairwell. The pall was draped over the casket by son Jason and daughter Alison who also lit the Pascal candle The first reading, a reading from the book of Isaiah 61:1-3 was addressed by niece Stacy McRae. The second reading , a reading from 1 John3:1-2 was addressed by niece Tammy McRae. The prayers of the faithfull were invited by nephew David MacIsaac. The Eucharisti­c ministers were James Hogan, Joan and Percy Fennessey. The crucifer was Richard Shea. The candle bearers were Charles Bernard and Neil LeClair. The alter server was James Hogan. The Choir was under the direction of the cantor Vincent Doucette. The organist was Diane Handrahan. The procession­al hymn was Here I Am Lord. The psalm was, The Lord is my Shepherd, The Offertory hymn was, Peace is Flowing Like a River, The communion hymn was, Gift of Finest Wheat, The song of Fairwell was Songs of the Angels, The recessiona­l hymn was How Great thou Art. The pallbearer­s were Tyler Peters, Rodney MacIsaac David MacIsaac, Earl McRae, Tyson McRae, Keegan Wagner. The Flower bearers were grandchild­ren, Brooklyn and Brycen Pickle. Attending in a body were the Rev. M. J. Rooney Council of the Knights of Columbus who also held prayers at the funeral home Monday evening. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. Brendon Gallant officiatin­g.
