Car stolen on Oct 30
Editor’s Note: The following is a list of noteworthy incidents and investigations undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Oct. 30 and Nov. 5, 2017:
Car stolen
On Oct. 30 at about 5 p.m., a vehicle was reported stolen from a business located in Miscouche. The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between 3 p.m. on Oct. 28 and 4 p.m. on Oct. 30. The vehicle is a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, dark-blue in color. The investigation is continuing.
False alarm
On Oct. 30 at approximately 6 p.m., a complaint was received by East Prince RCMP, reporting what was believed to be gunshots near a home in Augustine Cove. Police patrolled to the area and noted that migratory birds could be seen flying nearby water. It is believed the wind carried the sounds from nearby hunters in surrounding areas.
Bridge confusion
On Oct. 30, East Prince RCMP Members were on patrol in Borden-Carleton at approximately 7:30 p.m. just as the Confederation Bridge opened traffic to high-sided vehicles after several hours of closure due to high winds. Several tractor-trailers attempting to access the bridge at the same time caused issues at the main intersection. Members stayed on site and assisted with directing traffic to ensure there were no collisions and an orderly flow of traffic was kept.
Fire in Nail Pond
On Oct. 30 at about 10:30 p.m., West Prince RCMP was dispatched to a location in Nail Pond to assist with a complaint of a residence on fire. The residence, which was vacant, burned to the ground. The investigation is continuing.
Fire in South West Lot 16
On Oct. 31 at about 8 p.m., East Prince RCMP was dispatched to a location in South West Lot 16 to assist with a complaint of a cottage on fire. The investigation is continuing.
Car hits burned tires
On Oct. 31, at approximately 8 p.m., a report of a minor traffic collision was reported in Breadalbane. A vehicle travelling on Route 231 collided with a pile of tires that had been placed on the highway and burned. The complainant moved the tires off of the road to deter any further collisions, and RCMP followed up with organizing clean-up.
Fire in West Devon
On Oct. 31 just after midnight, West Prince RCMP were dispatched to a location in West Devon to assist with a complaint of a residence on fire. The investigation is continuing.
Fire in Deblois
On Nov. 1, at approximately 2 a.m., West Prince RCMP were dispatched to a location in Deblois, to assist with a complaint of a residence on fire. The residence, which was vacant and burned completely. The investigation is continuing.
Mount Pleasant fire
On Nov. 1 in the early morning hours at approximately 3 a.m., East Prince RCMP were dispatched to a location in Mount Pleasant, to assist with a complaint of an abandoned building on fire. The building was completely burned to the ground, and the investigation is continuing.
Prank gone wrong
On Nov. 1 at approximately 1:45 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a request from a concerned complainant, looking for assistance in locating a man for assessment of his well-being, after he made threats to harm himself. Members started an investigation and organized a “ping” to the man’s last-known cellular location, before determining the threats were false in nature and the occurrence happened as a result of a prank put on by a young man. The follow up investigation is continuing.
Graffiti in Miscouche
On Nov. 1 at about 3:30 a.m., a report of graffiti to a residential driveway in Miscouche was received by East Prince RCMP. The damage is believed to have taken place sometime between Oct. 5 and Oct. 31. The investigation is continuing.
