Maroons play two close games

The O’Leary Maroons played two tight games in the P.E.I. Midget AA Male Hockey League recently.

The Maroons skated to a 2-2 tie with the Summerside Capitals, and lost 4-3 to the Gulf Storm. Both games were played at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre.

Carson Yeo scored both goals for the Capitals while Dakota MacPhee, Reese Cameron, Isaac Oram and Tyler Gallant drew assists.

Jaycob Sweet and Brady Sweet replied for the Maroons. Tanner Gallant (2), Austin Arsenault and Jacob Gallant set up the goals.

The Maroons led 1-0 after the first period, and the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of two. Goaltenders were Maguire Gallant (Maroons) and Isaac Compton (Capitals).

Gulf Storm 4, Maroons 3

Brendan MacLeod (1-1), Krystof Wigmore (1-1), Jack Ellsworth and Branson Conohan provided goals for the Gulf Storm. Connor MacDonald and Josh Coulson were credited with helpers.

For O’Leary, Tanner Gallant (1-1), Jaycob Sweet and Morgan MacLeod found the back of the net. Jacob Gallant and Max MacIsaac added assists.

The teams were tied 2-2 at the end of one period, and the Maroons took a 3-2 advantage into the second intermission. Winning goaltender was Peyton Lauwerijssen. Gallant tended goal for O’Leary.
