Report of Halloween candy being tampered with unfounded

-

Summerside Police Services have determined that a report of a small nail or pin that was found in a child’s Halloween candy in the city was unfounded.

The incident was reported to police this week by a local family who said their child had been trick-or-treating in the Pope Road/MacDonald Drive area.

A subsequent Facebook post by the child’s family, warning others about the incident, was shared hundreds of times in the space of a day. That post has since been deleted. Summerside police said Thursday that they investigated the report and have determined that there was no cause for public concern.

Police had received two other reports last week of Halloween candy that had been tampered with. Both those incidents were unfounded as well.
