Harper earns Regals point

Kings earn win, tie in weekend action

Jax Harper’s goal with 19 seconds remaining in regulation time lifted the Western Regals into a 3-3 tie with the Kings County Kings on Saturday night.

It was one of two weekend games in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League for the Kings, who skated to a 7-3 win over the Summerside Capitals on Friday night.

In league play Thursday evening, the Central Attack downed the Mid-Isle Matrix 4-1.

At the Jacques Cartier Arena, Harper’s goal came after Jacob MacEachern scored his second goal of the game with 1:03 remaining to give the visiting Kings a short-lived 3-2 lead. Sterling MacKendric­k and Matt Williams also scored for the Alberton-based Regals, who are 4-4-1 (won-lost-tied). Thomas Shea added an assist. Lucas MacAulay netted the other tally for the Kings (42-3).

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period, and 2-2 following 40 minutes. Goaltender­s were Colin Gaudette (Regals) and Ben Bruce (Kings).

At the Eastern Kings Sportsplex in Souris, Tyson McInnis and Ty Peardon combined for eight points in leading the Kings.

Peardon scored a hat trick while Peardon netted two goals and added three assists. Riley Jamieson (1-1) and Jake MacLaren also scored for the Kings.

Dexter Stewart, Steven Smallwood and Aaron McCloskey answered for the Capitals (2-7-0).

The Kings held period leads of 1-0 and 4-3, before pulling away with three unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes. Winning goaltender was Nicolas Jamieson.

Attack 4 Matrix 1

At the Cody Banks Arena in Charlottet­own, Joseph Hood (1-1), Matt Dibacco, Kyle Martin and Dylan MacDonald dented the twine for the Attack, who improved to 4-5-0 (won-lost-tied). Emmett Lyons added two assists.

Ben Peters was the lone scorer for Mid-Isle (6-2-1). Matthew Halliwell earned the goaltendin­g win over affiliated player Caleb Boswall.

All five of the game’s goals were scored in the second period.
