The funeral for Jean M. Richard, daughter of Annie DesRoches and the late Alcide Richard, was held Friday Nov. 24, 2017 from the West Prince Funeral Home to St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Brandon Gallant assisted by Rev. Albin Arsenault. Rev. Brandon Gallant delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and farewell. The first reading was read by sister-in-law Celina Richard. The second reading was read by niece Debra Atkinson. The prayers of the faithful were read by Darlene Harper. The church choir sang under the direction of Vincent Doucette, cantor, accompanie­d by organist Diane Handrahan. Procession­al hymn was “Be Not Afraid”. Psalm was “Rest in God Alone”. Offertory hymn was “J’irai la Voir un Jour”. Communion hymn was “Taste and See”. Meditation was “Hail Mary” a solo by Shelley Arsenault. Song of farewell was “Songs of the Angels” and the recessiona­l hymn was “Amazing Grace”. The altar servers were James Hogan, Charlie Bernard and Clarence Gallant. The pascal candle was lit by her sister Angela LeClair. Offertory gifts were carried to the altar by nieces Alyssa Richard, Erick and Nicole Atkinson. Attending the funeral were Staff and Residents of Tignish Senior Home Care Co-op and St. Felix CWL. The urn bearer was her brother Everett Richard. Photo was carried by her mother Annie DesRoches and flowerbear­er was her sister Angela LeClair. Interment was in the church cemetery.
