Car collides with police cruiser on bridge

Editor’s note: The following is part of the list of noteworthy incidents and investigations undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Nov. 20 and Nov. 26. The first part of the list was published Wednesday:
On Nov. 25 around 9:30 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver in New Brunswick who was approaching the Confederation Bridge.
Police units responded to the bridge and were met by the suspect vehicle, which abruptly turned into the oncoming lane of traffic, causing a minor collision with a police car.
The 27-year-old female driver was arrested for impaired driving and provided breath samples that were twice the legal limit. She will appear in Summerside Provincial Court in mid-January to answer to the charges.
Driver pulls over for rest
On Nov. 25 around 10:30 p.m. East Prince RCMP received a call of a driver who had parked on the side of the road in Richmond and appeared to be asleep.
Prior to police arrival, the vehicle had left the scene and was later located in Summerside. A traffic stop was then initiated and it was determined the driver had been tired earlier and had pulled over to rest.
RCMP called for medical assistance
On Nov. 26 around 11 a.m. a 42-year-old resident of Westmoreland called police to request medical assistance. Members patrolled to the residence where Island EMS was on scene to transport the male to the hospital as a precaution.
Wood stolen
On Nov. 26 around 3 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of theft of blocked wood from a residential yard in Central Bedeque.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
