Impaired driving and collisions happenings on highways

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a list of noteworthy incidents and investigat­ions undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Nov. 27 and Dec. 3:

Man charged for impaired operation of parked car

On Nov. 27 at about 5:30 p.m., East Prince RCMP responded to a 911 call of an erratic driver in Hampton. Police located the vehicle stopped and the driver was asleep at the wheel, intoxicate­d. A 57-year-old male was arrested and lodged until sober. The matter is still under investigat­ion awaiting blood results.

Young driver escapes crash uninjured

On Nov. 27 at about 6 p.m., West Prince RCMP responded to a single-vehicle accident on Route 2 near Tignish. The 17-year-old driver lost control on the icy road and landed in the ditch. He was not injured. The vehicle was a total loss and was towed from the scene.

Boat antennas found

On Nov. 28 at about 1:30 p.m., East Prince RCMP got a call from an individual stating that about two weeks prior, he had found two boat antennas (eightfoot) in the ditch along the Hall Road in Harmony. Contact the East Prince RCMP if these antennas belong to you.

Car strikes trailer as it backs up

On Nov. 30 at about 5:50 a.m., East Prince RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in Portage. A tractor-trailer was being backed into a driveway when a vehicle heading westbound collided with the trailer. The vehicles were blocking both lanes of traffic. The driver of the car did not require medical attention.

Man charged

On Nov. 30 at about 7:30 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint from a female resident of Lennox Island stating that a 29-year-old male from the same area was allegedly threatenin­g to harm another individual. The intoxicate­d subject was subsequent­ly arrested. The matter is still under investigat­ion.

Two-vehicle collision in Woodvale

On Dec. 1 at 7:45 p.m., West Prince RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in Woodvale. Minor injuries were sustained by both drivers and vehicles were towed from the scene.

Wrong way around

On Dec. 1 at 9 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of an erratic driver. A light-coloured Honda Civic went the wrong way in the roundabout in Travellers Rest. The complainan­t was unable to obtain a plate.

Kensington Police were notified but the vehicle was not located.
