Old-Fashioned Christmas Gospel Concert set for Dec. 17
Event to be held at the Central Queens United Church
The sounds of Christmas, gospel and fiddle music will ring out as Gary Chipman & Friends present their fourth Old-Fashioned Christmas Gospel concert on Dec. 17.
The concert will be held at the Central Queens United Church in Hunter River and feature Christmas music as well as selections from the group’s own musical tribute to Don Messer and his Islanders. Musicians will include Gary Chipman, Rodney Savidant, Carol Chipman-Francis, Blair Coughlin, Bob Gagnon and Allen “Postie” Connolly. There will also be a special sing-along featuring Chipman’s Breadalbane guitar students. Chipman is a well-known Island musician who started his career on the Don Messer Live Shows. Since then he has shared the stage with many well-known musicians such as Stompin’ Tom Connors, Anna McGoldrick, Michelle Right, Lucille Starr, Smiley Bates and others. “We have a tremendous variety of talent set to take the stage on Sunday, Dec. 17,” says Chipman.
“We promise there will be something to please everyone’s musical taste buds and we think it will be a great evening to get into the Christmas spirit.” Admission is $12 at the door (no advance tickets) and children under 12 years old are $6. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7 p.m.
A portion of the proceeds will support Central Queens United Church.
