A doorway to Christmas
St. Louis Elementary holds door decorating contest
Grade 1 students Alexa Profit and Antwan Peters differed on what was the hardest part of decorating their chosen door for the St. Louis Elementary School Christmas door decorating contest. Alexa found colouring of the light bulbs that would go on their reindeer’s antlers to be the toughest part of their decorating job while Antwan suggested cutting out the paper bulbs was more challenging.

They did agree, though, that Rusty the Reindeer is one fine looking reindeer. Christmas door decorating judges Hal Perry and Paulette Arsenault were also in agreement, awarding first place in the contest to the Grade 1 and 2 French Immersion class. “We thought it would be really fun for the kids,” school principal Marsha Costelle said of the door-decorating contest she and school administrative assistant Mary Perry proposed. The winning class was treated to a pizza and garlic fingers party
Each class in the school was assigned one door in the main lobby area to decorate. The Grades 1 and 2 French Immersion class was assigned the door leading from the office to the back hallway and teachers lounge.
Another door was dressed up to reflect a popular expression from the Grinch. There’s a gingerbread house design, an Elf on the Shelf door, Snoopy and his decorated doghouse and other designs.
The main lobby is also extensively decorated and all the displays will remain up until the Christmas break.
