MacDonald nabs Evangeline award
Senior praised for leadership, on and off the court
ABRAM-VILLAGE – Isabelle MacDonald’s leadership, on and off the volleyball court, since arriving at Evangeline School has not gone unnoticed.
“The year Isabelle transferred here, we were trying to put together a senior girls’ soccer team. But we didn’t have enough players, and Isabelle got the ball rolling to get a volleyball team organized. It was through her efforts that we were able to have a girls’ volleyball team.” Evangeline School athletic director Jason Arsenault
The Grade 12 student, who is the 17-year-old daughter of Gerard and Monette MacDonald of Summerside, has been selected as the Greco Pizza/ Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month for November after helping the Evangeline School Coyotes to a bronze medal in the P.E.I. School Athletic Association Senior A Girls Volleyball League championship tournament in Kinkora. “The year Isabelle transferred here, we were trying to put together a senior girls’ soccer team,” explained Evangeline School athletic director Jason Arsenault. “But we didn’t have enough players, and Isabelle got the ball rolling to get a volleyball team organized.
“It was through her efforts that we were able to have a girls’ volleyball team.” Arsenault went on to praise Isabelle’s commitment. “She is hard working, very persistent and takes a lot of responsibility on her shoulders,” continued Arsenault. Isabelle, who also plays spring volleyball out of Evangeline School, plans to become an esthetician following graduation in June.
