The funeral for Henry Richard of St. Peter & St. Paul was held Thursday December 21, 2017 from the West Prince Funeral Home to St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Brendan Gallant who also delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and farewell.

The first reading was read by niece Bernice Gallant. The second reading and prayers of the faithful were read by niece Barbara McInnis. The church choir sang under the direction of Vincent Doucette accompanie­d by organist Diane Handrahan. The procession­al hymn was “Be Not Afraid”. Psalm was “In the Sight of the Angels”. Offertory hymn was “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. Communion hymn was “Peace is Flowing Like a River”. Song of farewell was “Songs of the Angels” and the recessiona­l hymn was J’irai la voir un jour”. Altar servers were James Hogan, Charlie Bernard, Neil LeClair and Joseph DesRoches. The pall was placed on the casket by brother Sylvain Richard and sister Frances Richard. The pascal candle was lit by niece Bernice Gallant. The offertory gifts were taken to the altar by nieces Dianne Gallant and Eileen Richard. All who attended the funeral were considered honorary pallbearer­s. The active pallbearer­s were nephews Joey Richard, Lloyd Richard, Kenneth Richard, Bruce Richard, Peter Richard and Gerard Richard. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
