The Journal Pioneer received many Christmas tree photos for our 2017 contest and one was chosen at random to win some concert tickets. See some of other entries inside.
A total of 78 photos were submitted to the Journal Pioneer 2017 Christmas tree contest this year.
Entries exhibited a lot of creativity and some were actually trees that had transformed into other beings, like Mickey Mouse and a Ghost of Christmas Future.
Most were artificial although some were real. Some had pets sitting nearby while many had various depictions of Santa situated beside or underneath. Some were very modern looking and colour co- ordinated while others had the old- fashioned appeal of traditional ornaments, tinsel and icicles.
We also invited submissions of other centrepieces of Christmas décor, besides trees, and a number of you sent in decorated mantles over cozy fireplaces. Unfortunately we don’t have the space to print all 78 entries, but here is a good sam- pling of those photos that got the most attention on our Facebook page and comments from those who viewed our 2017 Christmas tree album. One submitted photo was chosen randomly to win four tickets to see singer- songwriters Dave Gunning and James Keelaghan at Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside for an intimate night of award- winning music on Jan. 12.

A beautifully- lit tree and well- trimmed fireplace was submitted by Daniel Richard and Kim MacLeod and nine viewers liked it.

This tree, which Ruby Arsenault named “Winter Wonderland,” decorated in birds and flowers, is one of three gracing her home in Deblois. Her trees received 11 thumbs up.
Tashia Maynard calls this her Memory Tree, and it’s filled with memories captured on film of important people and dates in her family. The tree garnered the most Facebook likes of any of our entrants with 47 thumbs up plus three comments.
Janine Gallant of Cape Egmont writes, “My tree is all decorated in vintage balls and icicles; reminds me of when I was a kid.” She had 12 liking her theme as well as one fan commenting.
This clever Mickey Mouse tree submitted by Nessa Stewart had 15 likes and several commenting on its creativity.
This is one of Bonnie Compton’s two Christmas trees. This one had 12 likes while her other one had three.
Gina and Trent MacLeod of AngloTignish had the first entry in our contest and got 22 likes on the Journal Pioneer Facebook page.
The 2017 Doucettes’ Christmas tree, sent in by Gina Doucette, brought 26 likes and a couple of comments.
This well- placed tree in the centre of Marie Laviolette’s home in Alberton had 10 likes and a couple of comments on its beauty.
This colour- co- ordinated tree decorating Tracy and Rodney Arsenault’s home brought in 13 likes.
Pat Beauchesne of Schurman’s Point had a huge tree in her window which garnered 27 likes from viewers.
Darlene Gaudet- Hustler’s tree had nine likes and three comments.
