The funeral for the late Freda Mary Gavin, beloved wife of the late Gerald Gavin of Anglo-Tignish was held on Friday December 29, 2017 from the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated at 10: 30 a. m. by the Rev. Brendan Gallant who delivered the Homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and fairwell. The pall was placed over the casket by sons, Wade Gavin and Gerald Gavin. The Pascal candle was lit by daughter Betty Albert. The first reading was addressed by Lisa DesRoche, who also led the assembly with the prayers of the faithful. The second reading was addressed by Tara Handrahan. The gifts were presented at the alter by Rhonda Arsenault and Chavonne Gavin. The Eucharisti­c ministers were. James Hogan, Louis Shea and Madison Doucette. The crucifer was Richard Shea and the candle bearers were Louis Shea and Charles Bernard. The Alter server was James Hogan. The choir was under the direction of the cantor Vincent Doucette. The organist was Diane Handrahan. The procession­al hymn was Amazing Grace. The psalm was Rest in God Alone, Rest in God Alone My Soul, My Soul. The offertory hymn was, Prayer of St. Francis. The communion hymn was Hail Mary- Gentle Women. The Meditation hymn was a solo, “Come to the Water” sung by Abby Peters. The song of fairwell was songs of the Angels, The recessiona­l hymn was How Great Thou Art. The Honorary Pallbearer­s were Jamie Arsenault, Lisa DesRoche, Joan Wedge, Dawn Miller, Amanda Gavin, Pam Dawson, Rhonda Arsenault, Tara Handrahan, Tanya Handrahan, Cathie Morrissey, Krista Gallant, Maureen Doyle, Jennifer Poirier, Chavonne Gavin, Colleen Doucette. The active Pallbearer­s were Joseph Albert, Rodney Arsenault, Gary Arsenault, Adrian Gaudet, Troy Gavin, Paul Gallant. The flower bearers were Keisha Gavin, Abby LeClair, Karver Yeo, Santana Wedge, Madison Doucette, Brody Dawson, Jacob Dawson, Jimmy Lee Dawson, Kaley Tuplin. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. Brendan Gallant officiatin­g.
