Red Wings win 11th game in a row

The Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings made it 11 wins in a row on Tuesday night. The Red Wings built period leads of 3-0 and 4-1 en route to a 6-2 victory over the Sourisbase­d Eastern Maniacs in an Island Junior Hockey League contest at the Evangeline Recreation Centre.

Silas Handrahan and Jason Gallant each scored two goals for the Red Wings, who upped their record to 13-5-2 (won-lostoverti­me losses). Jason Gallant (1-2) and Isaac Knox also scored while single assists were credited to affiliated player Remi Arsenault, Spencer Groom, Abel Arsenault, Connor Morrissey and Braeden Stewart. Hunter McIntyre and Tyler Rose answered for the Maniacs (5-14-1). Blake Jamieson (2) and Eddie Jenkins set up the goals. Winning goaltender Bronson Banks turned aside 22 of 24 shots. Noah Laybolt had a much busier night in the Maniacs’ goal, stopping 37 of 43 shots. The Red Wings will look to extend their winning streak to 12 games on Sunday, when the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers visit AbramVilla­ge for a 7 p.m. start.
