Dr. Megan Bernard offering free health educational sessions in Summerside

-

A series of free health-related educational sessions will get underway in Summerside on Monday, Jan. 15, with a presentation on menopause.

It will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Summerside Rotary Library inside the Inspire Learning Centre.

The sessions are presented by Dr. Megan Bernard, who has a doctorate in naturopathy and offers naturopathic services at the Physio Centre in Summerside.

She notes, the targeted audience for Monday’s session is women aged 35 to 60 interested in hormone health and menopause. “Whether you’re pre- or peri-menopausal or right in the ‘heat’ of it, this session is for you,” says Dr. Bernard. The session may also be beneficial to people with any sort of hormone issue such as PMS, acne, or mood changes.

“It’s undeniable that, as a woman, your hormones are going to shift and you’re going to go through the dreaded menopause. Weakness, fatigue, insomnia, memory problems, weight gain, mood changes, vaginal dryness, low libido, hot flashes… the list goes on. Many women either suffer through the symptoms or are prescribed hormone replacement therapy,” said Bernard.

“There are evidence-based natural therapies, nutrition options, and lifestyle changes that can alleviate their symptoms. In this educational session I will cover natural options for menopause, and attendees will go home with a better understanding of menopause and how to diminish menopausal symptoms.”

This session will be followed by a question and answer but questions will also be taken throughout the presentation.
