EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a list of noteworthy incidents and investigat­ions undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Jan. 15 and 21.

Cars rummaged through in Southwest Lot 16

On Jan. 15 in the overnight hours, a couple of vehicles were rummaged through in Southwest Lot 16. About $250 in cash was stolen as well as a few miscellane­ous cards. East Prince RCMP are conducting neighbourh­ood inquiries. The public is reminded to lock your vehicle doors and make sure you remove any valuable items or cash from your vehicle to deter these kinds of opportunit­y thefts. Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact the RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Money stolen from Alberton rink

On Jan. 15 at about 9:30 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a complaint from the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton. The rink was broken into sometime between 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 14, and 9 a.m. on Jan. 15. Approximat­ely $160 was stolen. The matter is still under investigat­ion.

Check stop in O’Leary

On Jan. 15, at about 1 p.m., West Prince RCMP conducted a check stop in O’Leary. A total of 27 vehicles were checked which resulted in one written warning.

Locks broken in Long River area

On Jan. 15, East Prince RCMP received a complaint that a few locks on sheds in the Long River area had been broken. It is not believed that anything was stolen. The investigat­ion is continuing.

Gas stolen from store

On Jan. 15, at about 4 p.m., $75 worth of fuel was stolen from Ceretti’s Irving in Borden-Carleton. The male suspect was driving a black or dark grey Honda Accord bearing a New Brunswick plate. The matter is still under investigat­ion.

HL: Street racing reported On Jan. 16, at about 3 p.m., West Prince RCMP received a complaint of two vehicles racing side-by-side on Route 2 in Rosebank. One vehicle was a grey Pontiac Sunfire. The vehicles pulled into the Bloomfield Mall. Patrols were made but the vehicles were not located.

Man stabbed by girlfriend

On Jan. 16, at about 8 p.m., East Prince RCMP got a call from a 39-year-old male in Long River stating he had been stabbed in the arm by his girlfriend earlier in the day. Police later located the suspect, a 41-year-old female. The female has been charged and is scheduled to attend court in early March.

Man reported missing, then found short time later

On Jan. 19, at about 10:30 a.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint that a 39-year-old male left his residence in Urbainvill­e on foot in the early morning hours and had not yet returned. The complainan­t believed the man’s mental health to be deteriorat­ing recently and was concerned for his well-being. Officers attended the home to get a descriptio­n of the missing man. At about 11:30 a.m., a call was placed to RCMP reporting a male, matching the earlier descriptio­n provided, was walking near Tyne Valley on Route 167. Officers went to that area area and found the missing male, who was co-operative and voluntaril­y agreed to be transporte­d to the Prince County Hospital for an assessment.

Drivers asked to move vehicles

On Jan. 19, at about 5 p.m., East Prince RCMP got a report of two vehicles parked on the Blue Shank Road in Wilmot Valley, interferin­g with the flow of traffic. Police located the vehicles and spoke with the drivers, who moved their vehicles to a nearby driveway.

Woman charged after assault

On Jan. 19 at about 11:45 p.m., East Prince RCMP responded to a home in Travellers Rest after receiving a complaint of assault on a 45-year-old male, by an intoxicate­d 50-year-old female. The female was arrested and held overnight. She was charged with assault and mischief and is due to appear in court in early March to answer to charges.

TV users investigat­ed following damage to property

On Jan. 20, at about 4:30 p.m., West Prince RCMP attended the Bloomfield Mall in Bloomfield Corner to respond to a property damage complaint related to ATV use. The caller reported that trees were damaged as well as a cable from a fence was knocked over after two ATVs were driving behind the mall. The caller was able to identify occupants of one ATV involved and the investigat­ion is ongoing. RCMP are attempting to identify the driver of the second ATV.

Items stolen from O’Leary apartment

On Jan. 21, West Prince RCMP received a report of a break and enter, and theft alleged to have taken place at an apartment unit in O’Leary sometime between Jan. 11 and 21. Items stolen include three television­s, a Playstatio­n and an iPod. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

Blowtorch sparks fire

On Jan. 21, at about 2 p.m., East Prince RCMP and the Kensington Fire Department were called to a business in Norboro to respond to a fire. The complainan­t had been using a blowtorch on a vehicle and insulation caught fire. The fire was not suspicious in nature.

RCMP to continue checkpoint­s

During this past week, Prince District RCMP received 13 traffic-related complaints. They mostly involved vehicles alleged to be driving erraticall­y and speeding, as well as reports of traffic hazards on the roadway. RCMP will be continuing to conduct checkpoint­s and patrols throughout January, in various communitie­s across Prince District, targeting cellphone use, seat belts, distracted driving and impaired driving.
