ALLAIN, MELVIN J.
The funeral for Melvin J. Allain, St. Edward was held Monday January 22, 2018 from the West Prince Funeral Home to the Immaculate Conception Church, Palmer Road where funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Albin Arsenault who also delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendation and farewell. The first reading was read by son-in-law Francois Caron. The second reading was read by daughter Tanya Caron. The prayers of the faithful were read by a sister Phyllis Gaudet. The church choir sang under the direction of Velda Gallant accompanied by organist Anita Doucette. Processional hymn was “Amazing Grace” played on the fiddle by brother Zie Allain and sung by the choir. Psalm was “Rest in God Alone, Rest in God Alone, My Soul, My Soul”. Offertory hymn was “Summon” by granddaughter’s Natalie and Andrea Caron. Communion hymns were “The Lord My Shepherd I’ll Not Want’ by choir and Melvin’s children Marlene, Rodney, Randy, Tanya and Chanel sang “Come to the Water”. Farewell song was “Song of the Angels” and recessional hymn was “How Great Thou Art”. The altar servers were grandson David Caron, Francis Gaudet and Kathy Laming. Eucharistic ministers were Betty Perry, Claudia Gaudet and Stella Allain. The pall was placed on the casket by children. Honorary pallbearers were Leo Gaudet, Claude Albert, Edward Perry, Edward Blanchard, Chris Allain, Marie Bernard and Henry Gaudet. Active pallbearers were sons Rodney Allain, Randy Allain, Chanel Allain, grandsons Nicholas MacKinnon, Alex Allain and Dylan Allain. Flowerbearers were granddaughters Jacklyn Clohossey, Natalie and Andrea Caron, daughter Marlene MacKinnon, daughters-inlaw Marie Allain and Christina Tobin. Interment will take place at a later date.
