Poker Run No. 26 set for Feb. 4 in Tignish
Annual snowmobile and ATV event held in memory of Donald Gaudet Jr.
Family members of the late Donald Gaudet Jr. are busy organizing the 26th annual Snowmobile and ATV Poker Run, set for Feb. 4 in Tignish. Snowmobile and ATV enthusiasts from across Prince Edward Island, and beyond, are invited to participate in the Sunday afternoon event and help raise funds in Gaudet’s memory.
All proceeds will be donated to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Atlantic Branch.
Registration for the event takes place at the Tignish Legion from noon to 1 p.m. with a cost of $15.
The poker run starts at 1 p.m. At 4 p.m. participants are invited back to the Tignish Legion to enjoy a variety of chowders, soups, and rolls, followed by the presentation of prizes.
Feb. 4 marks the 27th anniversary of Gaudet’s death, which was due to complications from kidney disease.
His mother, Ruby, says, “We started the snowmobile run in Tignish a year after he passed, as a memorial to Donald, and have only missed two years since 1991. It’s a fun day for everyone, and we are happy to be able to make the donation to the Kidney Foundation.”
In 2017, this event raised $4,622 for the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Atlantic Branch. Any inquiries about the snowmobile and ATV poker run can be directed to organizers, Don or Ruby Gaudet at 902-882-2508, or Rodney Gaudet at Gaudet’s Engine Repair, 902-882-2765.
Storm date for the event is Sunday, Feb. 18.
