Don’t go ‘Shack Wacky’
Patrick Ledwell and Mark Haines trying to help Islanders get through winter with new show
In January, Islanders batten down the hatches for what winter can throw at them. But by the first of February, it’s high time to throw those doors open and get out for a spirited night. Join comedian Patrick Ledwell and musician Mark Haines for “The Shack Wacky Review,” a show celebrating Islanders and the qualities that help people live, drive and survive on P.E.I. year round.
“The Shack Wacky Review” runs Feb. 2 and 3 at the P.E.I. Brewing Company, 96 Kensington Rd., Charlottetown. Originally scheduled for one date, the Saturday show old out quickly, so the Feb. 2 date was added in response to interest. Advance tickets are recommended.
“As Islanders, we go a bit stircrazy by the time February arrives,” says Ledwell. “So the idea behind this show is simple. Let’s get friends out around tables together, good drink in hand, and host a barn-rattling night of entertainment.” Ledwell and Haines have established a P.E.I. tradition with “The Island Summer Review,” which played five sold-out seasons at Harmony House in Hunter River.
“We’re already writing for the new summer season. I’m excited to try new pieces and revisit a few favourites in this lively venue,” adds Haines. Their only Charlottetown show this season, “The Shacky Wacky Review” will shovel through a wintery Island landscape for jokes, songs and combinations of the two.
The show begins at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Advance tickets are available now online at PEIbrewingcompany.com, in person at the P.E.I. Brewing Company or by calling 902-629-BREW (2739).
