Midget Matrix rolling along

Kings County defeats Regals

The Robin’s Mid-Isle Matrix just keep rolling along.

The Matrix, who is 10-0-1 (won-lost-tied) in their last 11 games, trimmed the Central Attack 7-1 in one of two P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League games played on Tuesday night. The Kings County Kings topped the Western Regals 5-2 in the other contest.

Matrix 7 Attack 1

At Community Gardens in Kensington, Zac MacKay (2-2), Nick Trainor (1-3), Ben Peters (1-2), Kyler Weeks, Zach Wilson and David Sato lit the lamp for the league-leading Matrix, who improved to 23-4-3 (won-losttied). Colin Goodwin, Bailey Anderson, Kayden MacLeod, Lucas Buch and Duncan Picketts added single helpers to round out Mid-Isle’s balanced offensive attack.

Joseph Hood, assisted by Emmett Lyons and Dylan MacDonald, answered for the Attack (10-18-1).

Mid-Isle led 2-0 after the first period, and extended that margin to 5-1 entering the final frame.

Jonah Arbing earned the goaltendin­g win.

Kings 5 Regals 2

At the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton, Reid Peardon (2-1), Jacob MacEachern (1-1), Brodie McCarthy and Tyson McInnis contribute­d goals for the Kings (14-9-5). Ty Peardon (2), Lucas MacAulay, Trey Vancolen and Jack King had assists. Jacob Hogan (1-1) and Kalim DesRoches replied for the Regals (9-14-5). Ethan Oliver was credited with a single assist.

The period scores were 2-1 and 3-1 in favour of the Kings. Winning goaltender was Ben Bruce. Colin Gaudette was between the pipes for Western.
