Vipers drop pair of games against NBJHL teams

The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers dropped a pair of games in interlocki­ng action versus New Brunswick Junior Hockey League teams over the weekend.

The Kent Koyotes outlasted the visiting Vipers 7-5 on Saturday night, and the Cap-Pelé Predators pulled out a 5-4 decision at Community Gardens on Sunday evening.

Alexi Guitard scored twice and earned an assist while Marcel Newcomb contribute­d three helpers to pace the Predators. Kyle Furze, Chad LeBlanc and Kevin McGraw collected single tallies while Christian Gregan had two assists.

Riley Gallant (1-1), Jesse Jay, Parker Ronahan and Nick Bouchey answered for the Vipers, who are 11-14-4 (won-lostoverti­me losses) in the Island Junior Hockey League. Garrett Murray (2), Tyler Gallant, Logan Vanderveld­en, Campbell Gallant, Kyle Pinksen and Spencer Sherren were credited with assists.

Mathieu Landry earned the goaltendin­g win, and Rett Rook was between the pipes for Kensington. Overall, the Predators held a 39-36 shots-on-goal advantage.
