Racing snowmobile­s among incidents investigat­ed

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is the remainder of a list of noteworthy incidents and investigat­ions undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Feb. 5 and 11:

Cellphone stolen

On Feb. 9 around 7:30 p.m. West Prince RCMP received a call about a theft in Alberton. The caller reported that someone had stolen his Samsung cellphone valued at $400. Police have identified a suspect and the investigat­ion is ongoing.

Gathering of snowmobile­s

On Feb. 9 at around 11:30 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a report of snowmobile­s racing. The caller indicated that a group of approximat­ely 15 snowmobile­s were gathered in a field in Miscouche. Police were on a priority call at the time. Patrols were later made and no snowmobile­s were noted.

Pedestrian hit by ATV

On Feb. 10 around 2 a.m., a patrolling member of the West Prince RCMP noticed a bluecolour­ed ATV parked in parking lot near the Route 145 Bar in Bloomfield.

The officer noted the vehicle did not display a licence plate. A short time later, a male approached the ATV and got on it. As police activated emergency lights of the patrol car and pulled in behind the ATV, the male driver started the ATV and turned it quickly to the right, hitting a pedestrian. The pedestrian caught the front rack of the ATV and was on top of the rack for about 10 to 20 feet before rolling off. The ATV driver continued toward Route 2, not stopping. The pedestrian was not injured and police are investigat­ing to determine the driver of the ATV. Police are seeking the assistance of the community to identify the ATV driver.

Windshield broken

On Feb. 10 around 11:30 a.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of damage to a vehicle that took place in Sherbrooke sometime through the night prior. The property owner reported his vehicle windshield was broken while parked in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

Man arrested for breaching probation

Around 10 a.m. on Feb. 10, West Prince RCMP received a complaint from a 33-year-old female resident of O’Leary reporting a 29-year-old man was breaching no-contact conditions of a probation order. The man was intoxicate­d, was later located and arrested. He was held overnight in custody and the investigat­ion is ongoing.

ATV towed for safe keeping

On Feb. 11 around 1 a.m. West Prince RCMP received a report of an abandoned ATV parked in the caller’s backyard in Alberton. The homeowner was concerned the vehicle could have been stolen. Police attended the scene and towed the ATV for safe keeping, and the owner was later identified.
