There are a limited number of tickets still available for Saturday’s MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) game at the Tignish Credit Union Arena. Tickets for the contest between the host Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals and Truro Bearcats can be purchased at the Tignish Credit Union Arena and the Tignish Co-op Gas Bar. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Capitals’ lineup includes Tignish Minor Hockey graduate TJ Shea, who is the MHL’s leading point-getter. The Anglo/ Tignish native was recently named the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s first star for January. He leads the Maritime league for both goals (39) and assists (58), and his 97 points has him in first place by 20 points over his linemate, Brodie MacArthur. Averaging more than two points per game, the 19-year-old Shea has more than doubled his output since last year’s rookie season.

Tignish Credit Union Arena manager Harvey Myers said there is lots of excitement surrounding the Caps bringing their home game to Tignish.

“As soon as (fans) heard it was coming here, it’s been non-stop conversation,” said Myers, who is anticipating a capacity crowd. The Caps have a firm grasp of second place in the Eastlink North Division at 2815-1-0 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses), and are fourth overall in the 12-team league. The Bearcats (23-17-1-1) are fourth in the Eastlink South Division, seventh overall.
