The funeral for Annie DesRoches, Tignish was held Friday February 23, 2018 from the West Prince Funeral Home, Palmer Road forwarded to St. Simon & St. Jude Church, Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated by Rev. Brendan Gallant assisted by Rev. Alban Arsenault. Rev. Gallant delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendation and farewell. The first reading in french was read by Celina Richard. The second reading was read by Leona Keefe. The prayers of the faithful were read by Darlene Harper. The church choir sang under the direction of Vincent Doucette accompanied by organist Diane Handrahan. Processional hymn was “Here, I Am Lord”. Psalm was “Rest in God Alone”. Offertory hymn was “In The Garden” sung by Blair & Marcella Gaudet. Communion hymn was “J’irai la voir un jour” and post-communion hymn was “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman” a solo by Shelley Arsenault. Song of farewell was “Songs of the Angels” and the recessional hymn was “How Great Thou Art”. The altar servers were James Hogan, Charlie Bernard, Albert Shea and Richard Shea. Eucharistic ministers were Mary Bernard and Joyce Brown. The pall was placed on the casket by son Everett and daughter Angela. The pascal candle was lit by son Everett Richard. The gifts were presented at the altar by Tammy Richard and Debra Atkinson. Tignish and St. Felix CWL attended the funeral and formed and honor guard also attending were Management, Staff and Residents from Tignish Senior Home Care Co-op. Honorary pallbearers were Bertha Buote, Ada Arsenault, Paula MacDonald, Patsy Harper, Wendy Fraser, Jean McKenna, Megan Richard, Christopher Richard and Danny Richard. Active pallbearers were Raymond Arsenault, Michael Arsenault, Elmer Perry, Ron Keefe, Blair DesRoches and Craig Atkinson. Flowerbearers were all grandchildren. Thursday evening Tignish and St. Felix CWL held a prayer service led by Laureen Handrahan. The reading was read by Lena Handrahan. Interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery.
