Maroons, Aces post wins

Things are getting interestin­g in the West Prince Senior Hockey League playoffs. The O’Leary Maroons and Wellington Flyers entered Game 3 of the best-of-five semifinal series at the Evangeline Recreation Centre on Sunday night tied 1-1, and the Alberton Regals pulled out a 5-4 overtime win over the Tignish Aces on Friday night to even their semifinal series 1-1 as well. The Maroons, who won Game 2 on Saturday night by a 6-2 count, will host Game 4 on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The series between the Aces and Regals resumes at the Jacques Cartier Arena in Alberton on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.

Maroons 6 Flyers 2

At the O’Leary Community Sports Centre, Aaron Reilly (2), Mike MacIsaac (1-3), Nick Reilly (1-2), Darryl Donahue and Tyson Carragher scored for the Maroons. Matt Stewart (2), Scott Bernard, Jordan MacIsaac, Aaron Sweet and Mike Adams added assists. Scott Watson netted both goals for the Flyers.

The Maroons held period leads of 2-0 and 4-2. Chase Dyment earned the goaltendin­g win.

Regals 5 Aces 4 (OT)

At the Tignish Credit Union Arena, Jesse MacIntyre’s goal with 7:18 remaining in overtime lifted the Regals to victory. MacIntyre also added three assists for a four-point night.

Garrett Lewis netted a hat trick and contribute­d an assist for a four-point night while Matt Lefurgey had a goal and two helpers. Single helpers went to Mitch Hardy, Logan Smallman and Fidan Feta.

Willie Gaudet (2), Tanner Gallant (1-1) and Traven Gaudet countered for the Aces. Evan Shea (2), Brett Gaudet, Jacob LeClair, Jason Gaudet, Mitch Doucette and Colby Callaghan added assists. Winning goaltender was Spencer Rennie.
