Police respond to vehicle-related incidents

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is a list of some of the noteworthy incidents and investigat­ions undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Feb. 26 and March 4:

Woman uninjured after single-vehicle crash

On Feb. 26 at about 7 a.m., East Prince RCMP attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Route 11 in St. Nicholas. The driver, a 38-yearold female, lost control on icy roads and went into the ditch. She was uninjured but the vehicle was demolished.

ATV stolen from West Cape

On Feb. 26 at about 9 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a report of a stolen ATV from a property in West Cape. The ATV is a green 2005 Arctic Cat 500 with Ontario plate. The public is asked to contact the RCMP with any informatio­n related to this case.

Unusual incident in Sherbrooke

On Feb. 27 at about 1 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint from a female stating she was getting out of her vehicle to cross the road in Sherbrooke when a male wearing a grey coat and a ball cap took his phone out and took a picture of her. When she asked him why he took her picture, he replied that it was none of her business. The male was in a dark-coloured SUV.

Driver warned

On Feb. 28 at about 10 a.m., West Prince RCMP received a complaint of a vehicle driver swerving and pulling the emergency brake. Members located the vehicle in a parking lot. The 22-year-old male driver was warned about his driving.

Alberton driver warned, vehicle towed

On March 1 at approximat­ely 3:45 a.m., an officer with the West Prince RCMP was on patrol and observed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign in Alberton. The officer pulled over the vehicle and detected an odour of liquor from the 37-year-old male driver. A roadside screening test was performed, which provided a warning result. The driver was issued a driving suspension for seven days and a charge under the Provincial Highway Traffic Act for failing to obey a traffic control device. The vehicle was also towed and impounded for three days.

Vehicles reported for racing in Miscouche

On March 1 at about 10 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of four trucks racing in Miscouche. Police patrolled to the area and no vehicles were noted, however the complainan­t was able to provide a licence plate number of one of the vehicle involved. Police have been in contact with the registered owner.

Woman injured in snowmobile accident

On March 3 at about 4 p.m., members of West Prince RCMP were called to the scene of a snowmobile accident in Alma. As a result of the accident, one female was transporte­d to the Prince County Hospital for treatment of injuries.
