RCMP, Gulfshore School hit the ice
The RCMP was challenged by the students from Gulfshore School in Rustico to a charity hockey match hoping to raise money for school equipment. The hard-fought game was held on the recently in Rustico, giving the Gulfshore students home-ice advantage.
The first goal of the game was scored by the RCMP Safety bear.
The police officers noted the Timbits Kindergarten to Grade 3 students offered some of the stiffest competition.
The RCMP made several arrests during the game of students who were scoring too many goals, and the referee, who the RCMP claimed was one-sided. In the end, the games were too close to call and a re-match is scheduled for next year.
The 50/50 was won by the Gulfshore music teacher, who donated the entire winnings to the school music department.
