Weather moves bantam playoff game

Weather played its hand again and altered another hockey game this time moving Game 3 of the P.E.I. Bantam AAA Hockey League final to Thursday from its originally scheduled Tuesday.

A pending snow storm Tuesday changed game time for the Central Attack-Prince County Warriors matchup to Thursday, at 8 p.m., at Simmons Arena in Charlottet­own.

The best-of-five series is tied 1-1. Game 4 is Friday, at 7:30 p.m., in O’Leary.

Sherwood’s trio of third-period goals fuels playoff win

The Sherwood Metros rode a three-goal third period to salt away a 6-3 win over the Tignish Perry’s Constructi­on Aces in Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League action Monday at Cody Banks Arena. The best-of-seven league final is tied 1-1. Game 3 is Thursday, 8:20 p.m., at Cody Banks.

Brandon Sullivan, Robert Hicken and Will Levasseur (1-1) scored in the decisive period. Sullivan also scored earlier in the first frame. Owen Arsenault (1-1) and Marc Cummiskey added third-period markers for Sherwood. Brad Jenkins chipped in two assists. Brayden Handrahan (1-1), Brayden Arsenault and Keaton Horne netted the Aces goals, while Brydon Smith tallied a pair of helpers. James Duffy earned the goaltendin­g win over Bradley Shea. Sherwood outshot Tignish 42-41 and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Tignish was 2-for-6 with the extra man. Tignish led 2-1 after the first frame. Sherwood had a 4-2 edge at the second intermissi­on.

Trainor, Peters, MacKey lead Mid-Isle to playoff win in Pownal

Nick Trainor, Ben Peters and Zac MacKay each tallied three-point nights and lifted the Mid-Isle Matrix to a 6-4 playoff win over the Pownal Taco Boyz Red Devils in P.E.I. Midget AAA Hockey League action Monday in Pownal. Mid-Isle leads the best-ofseven league final 2-0. Game 3 was Tuesday in Cornwall. Game 4 is Thursday, at 7:30 p.m., in Pownal. Trainor netted two goals and added an assist, while Peters and MacKay each chipped in three helpers. Chandler LaPorte, Zach Wilson, Lucas Buch and Duncan Picketts had the other Matrix goals. Lucas Parsons (1-1), Nick Steele (1-1), Dawson Palmer (1-1) and Alex MacEachern potted the Red Devils markers.

Matt Jelley earned the goaltendin­g win.

Trevor Whalen was tagged with the loss.

Pownal was 0-of-4 on the power play, while Mid-Isle went 1-for-3 with the extra man.

Titan overwhelm Islanders

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan scored three times in the second period and earned a 6-1 win over the Charlottet­own Islanders in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Tuesday in Bathurst, N.B.

Ethan Crossman, Liam Murphy and Summerside’s Noah Dobson had the goals for the Titan (42-15-7-2) in the decisive period. Samuel L’Italien and Jeffrey Truchon-Viel (2) added third-period scores. Daniel Hardy netted the Islanders (35-23-7) marker. Evan Fitzpatric­k stopped 27of-28 shots for goaltendin­g win, while Dakota Lund-Cornish kicked aside 41-of-47 attempts in the loss.
