Conserving resources, minimizing energy usage and reducing waste addressed at food automation conference
Global technology leaders networked with more than 100 Islanders in the food industry, while sharing their latest success stories on developments in food automation and waste reduction.
Food Automation Atlantic is the first food automation conference in Atlantic Canada that recently took place at the Rodd Charlottetown, located at 75 Kent Street.
“When we reached out to over 40 food processors over the past year, it became very clear that productivity improvement is a key priority of Island businesses,” said Bryan Inglis, the CEO of Food Island Partnership. He continued, “This is the first in a series of initiatives that Food Island Partnership will be leading to connect the industry with expertise and funding opportunities in areas such as automation, productivity, and food waste reduction.” Those in attendance had the opportunity to network and learn from global leaders, who highlighted how food processors are embracing sorting technology, robotics, and customized solutions to improve business, as well as gather information on future funding.
“It has been a great opportunity to be at Food Automation Atlantic to tell our story, so that Island businesses can become more aware of the support that is available and to discuss our success with automation in the potato industry” said Austin Roberts, Co-owner of RWL Holdings Ltd.
Food Automation Atlantic will improve competitiveness in the market and fuel innovation. Key funding partners include Innovation P.E.I. and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
