BROWN, RAYMOND “RAY” JOSEPH

The funeral mass for Raymond “Ray” Joseph Brown (Veteran of WWII) of Summerside and formerly of Richmond, P.E.I., beloved husband of Eileen (nee Praught) Brown was held on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018 from the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside to the Immaculate Conception Church, Wellington by Rev. Andrew Handrahan and co-celebrated by Rev. Albin Arsenault, Rev. Keith Kennific and Rev. John Molina. The Pall was placed by his wife Eileen, his sister Joan Fitzgerald and daughters Liz MacDonald and Peggie Corney. The Readings were read by grandsons Mark MacDonald and Ryan Brown. The Gospel was proclaimed and the Homily was delivered by Father Handrahan. Prayers of the Faithful were led by granddaugh­ters April and Laura Brown. Hymns sung by members of the church choir and joined by several members of Ray’s family were: “Here I am Lord”, “Because He Lives”, “Alleluia”, “Consider the Lilies” and “Bind us Together Lord”. Organist was Debbie Montgomery. Alter servers were grandsons Jackson, Nick and Josh Brown. Pallbearer­s were sons Tom and Bart Brown, along with Hughie McQuaid, Jack Praught, Tim Brown, and Brendan Fitzgerald. Interment will take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Also in attendance were members of the Knights of Columbus and several members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 17, Wellington who formed an honor guard. Members of the Knights of Columbus # 2070 held a Service of Remembranc­e at the funeral home on Monday afternoon under the direction of Knight John Perry. The readers were Knights Dave Rioux, Dave O’Brien and Bernard McKenna. Another Service of Remembranc­e was held at the funeral home on Monday evening by members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 17, Wellington under the direction of Comrade Austin Poirier. Sgt.at-Arms was Comrade David Gallant, the flag bearers were Comrades Herman Marche and Albert Hashie and the Last Post was played by Comrade Mike Gallant. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside.
