Rodgers to read at P.E.I. Writers’ Guild event
Susan Rodgers is ready to take the stage and read to her fans at the P.E.I. Writers’ Guild Open Mic on Thursday, April 12.
Rodgers is best-known for penning her fictional series the “Drifters,” which is based in Vancouver and home to where the true drama begins. She was a finalist in the 2011 Atlantic Writing Awards for her yet unpublished first novel, “A Certain Kind of Freedom.” The author has dabbled too in film writing, which all began after discovering a box of wartime letters in the attic of an historic house where she worked as a curator.
This became Rodgers first award-winning half-hour screenplay and filmed drama, “Bobby’s Peace.”
After a year of attending the Vancouver Film School, Rodgers created a number of client documentary film projects, as well as a web series, period short film, short comedy and a music video.
Rodgers is currently working to finance and produce a P.E.I. screenplay called, “Still The Water” for 2018.
All are welcome to this free event that will be held at Receiver Coffee, located at 128 Richmond Street in Charlottetown at 7 p.m.
The first 10 writers to sign up may read from their work, poetry or prose, for up to five minutes.
Following a short break, Rodgers will read.
The P.E.I. Writers’ Guild Open Mic Series will continue to run on the second Thursday of each month.
