Checkpoint results in one written warning

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is the second portion of a list of some of the noteworthy incidents and investigat­ions undertaken by Prince District RCMP between April 2 and 8: On April 6 around 11:40 p.m., West Prince RCMP conducted a checkpoint operation on Church Street in Alberton. Approximat­ely 25 vehicles were check for violations under the Highway Traffic Act. One written warning was issued.

RCMP respond to domestic disturbanc­e call

On April 7 around 7:30 p.m., East Prince RCMP members attended a residence in Kinkora after receiving a report of a domestic disturbanc­e. Upon attendance, it was noted there was no offence committed, and one party agreed to leave the residence in an effort to keep the peace.

Syringes found

On April 7, around 8 p.m., East Prince RCMP received informatio­n that there was a collection of syringes located in a public area in Linkletter. Police attended, located the syringes and discarded them safely.

Vehicle stolen

On April 8, West Prince RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, a 2010 blue Hyundai Santa Fe, is believed to have been stolen from a residence in St. Louis sometime during the night prior. The investigat­ion is ongoing.

Recaps and reminders

During the past week, Prince District RCMP received 16 traffic-related complaints. These complaints mostly pertained to vehicles alleged to be driving erraticall­y and speeding, as well as reports of traffic hazards on the roadway. RCMP will continue to conduct checkpoint­s and patrols in April, in various communitie­s across Prince District, targeting cellphone use, seat belts, distracted driving and impaired driving.
