Red Mudd captures 14U tourney

Red Mudd Team Two defeated Red Mudd Team One 25-18 to win the second Volleyball P.E.I. 14-under boys’ tournament of the spring,

The six-team event was held at M.E. Callaghan Intermediate School recently.

The Mumbas advanced to the final by edging the West Prince Islanders 25-22, and the Aces defeated Red Mudd 24-13 in the other semifinal.

The West Prince Islanders One edged the Charlottetown Aces 23-19 to finish in third place. Red Mudd Two finished the round-robin portion of the tournament at 5-0 (won-lost). Red Mudd One was second at 4-1.

There was a three-way tie for third place at 2-3. After applying the tie-breaking procedure, the West Prince Islanders Two was awarded third place. Charlottetown Aces were fourth, Charlottetown Mumbas was fifth and the West Prince Islanders Two finished sixth at 0-5.

The next tournament goes Tuesday, April 17, at East Wiltshire starting at 5:30 p.m.
