The importance of first impressions
Recently the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce had a Free Business Builder breakfast to focus on “The Importance of First Impressions.” Making a good first impression is extremely important for businesses trying to sell their products or services since potential customers will often decide whether or not to return to a store or business immediately after their first visit or introduction.
The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce partnered with The Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of P.E.I., the Wellington Rural Action Centre and RDÉE Prince Edward Island (the provincial francophone economic development council) to deliver this free breakfast-and-learn session at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside. Guest speakers were Cora Lee Dunbar, the Prince County regional program officer for P.E.I. Connectors, and Alana Walsh, program manager of the newly launched PEI Network (1+1=3).
Both of these presenters have a number of years of experience in business development and in business and leadership coaching. Dunbar’s role is geared to connecting immigrant entrepreneurs to business investment and purchasing opportunities. Mentorship and coaching clients is part of her mandate to assist in the important start-up phases of their project. Walsh works in connecting job seekers, recent graduates and new Islanders, with local business and community leaders. They were able to provide a variety of suggestions and tips on things business owners should do or avoid doing to ensure that potential customers and partners get a positive first impression of their business, product or service. Thank you to all who attended.
