2018 Choose Summerside event
The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce’s (GSSCC) second annual Choose Summerside event will be taking place May 12, at Credit Union Place from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Choose Summerside is a family-friendly celebration of the business community, featuring numerous organizations. Presented by the Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Summerside, Choose Summerside is all about why businesses and residents live or shop or recreate in Summerside.
In addition to many wellknown organizations such as ADL, Slemon Park, Callbecks Home Hardware and Red Shores, businesses such as South Central Kitchen and Provisions and other local food vendors will have food samples or dishes available. Several businesses will be operating ‘pop-up retail’.
Choose Summerside will also provide entertainment and learning seminars throughout the day, with performances by Logan Maddix, Dance Virtusoa and featured children’s entertainer, Mike Pendergast.
Being a family-friendly business event means catering to families. This is a “Pay What You Can” event and new this year is a colouring contest and scavenger hunt for children. The goal is to show that Summerside is truly a familyfriendly community and our growth depends upon families. This event is also senior-friendly and fully accessible, with representation from the Summerside Age Friendly Committee. The returning corporate sponsor is Township Chevrolet and the event’s funding partners include Innovation P.E.I. and ACOA.
Staples is sponsoring the coloring contest and scavenger hunt. Activity sponsors for the event include: Green Shore Properties, CBDC, Global Pet Foods, Red Shores Summerside, Staples and Century 21. Source for sports is this year’s Volunteer sponsor.
