Prince County Fiddlers present show at Tyne Valley’s Britannia Hall May 19
The Prince County Fiddlers are returning to Tyne Valley’s Britannia Hall May 19 to host a concert in celebration of National Fiddle Day.
Th e Prince County Fiddlers are returning to Tyne Valley’s Britannia Hall this May to host a concert in celebration of National Fiddle Day.
Th e concert will start off with a lively two- step called the “Fiddle Bill.”
Th is tune was composed by Kelli Trottier in honor of Senator Libbe Hubley’s bill that was passed unanimously by the House of Commons designating the third Saturday of each May National Fiddle Day. Hubley will act as master of ceremonies for this event as well as participate as a member of the Prince County Fiddlers.
“Last year was our fi rst time performing at the hall and the venue was perfect,” she noted. “We received a lot of positive feedback and the audience welcomed us back anytime so we have been busy creating a program which will include several special guests.”
Th e May 19 show will feature step- dancer Samantha MacKay, a dance instructor with the College of Piping in Summerside, as well as step- dancer Veronica Murray, a dance instructor with the Stepping Out Studio in Kensington, who will both dance throughout the program. Fiddler Jason Campbell will play some lively tunes for the dancers.
Amelia Parker, a young fi d- dler from Nova Scotia, will play with the Prince County Fiddlers as well as perform a few solos. MacKenzie Wright will also be joining the fi ddling group on stage as one of their newest members.
Mary Smith will be travelling from Rustico to join the group on fi ddle and guitar. Kevin Arthur will be guest singer.
Th e two- hour Saturday night concert starts at 7: 30 p. m. with doors opening at 7. Tickets can be purchased that evening at the door.
