LYNNeS play Harmony House

Special guest Catherine MacLellan to open the show

-

The LYNNeS – Juno award winning songwriter Lynn Miles and award-winning songwriter Lynne Hanson – will make their first appearance at Harmony

House Theatre in Hunter River on Saturday for an 8 p.m. show. Award-winning, Island singer-songwriter, Catherine MacLellan, will open the show. The LYNNeS are considered two Canadian heartbreak poets who fuse tight vocal harmonies with hauntingly gritty lyrics. Individually they have toured North America and Europe, and their debut album, “Heartbreak Song For The Radio” is now available.

The witty songwriters play off each other live, often leaving the audience howling with laughter with their betweens ong banter. In addition to their beautiful harmonies, the two are skilled multi-instrumental musicians (acoustic and electric guitars, piano, harmonica, mandolin, percussion).

Miles is one of Canada’s most accomplished singer/ songwriters, with 14 albums to her credit, the winner of four Canadian Folk Music awards (including 2011 English Songwriter of the Year), and a 2003 Juno Award for Roots and Traditional Solo Album of the Year. Her song “Black Flowers” appeared on Claire Lynch’s Grammy-nominated album “North By South.” Hanson has been playing her brand of “porch music with a little red dirt” for the past 10 years. She has released six albums, won the Colleen Peterson Award for songwriting, and has been nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award.

MacLellan tours internationally and has played across Europe, the UK, the U.S. and Canada, but continues to call P.E.I. home. In 2014, she released her fifth record, “The Raven’s Sun,” which has been critically acclaimed, winning a JUNO, two Canadian Folk Awards and several P.E.I. Music Awards. In the last few years, her work has grown to include teaching songwriting, giving workshops, and speaking publicly about mental health. Tickets for the show are $22 plus HST and are available by calling Ticketpro at 1-888-3119090 or at the door subject to availability.
