The funeral for the late Marion Jessie Buote, beloved wife of the late Jerry Buote, of Tignish, was held on Friday, May 4, 2018 from the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel, Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. by Rev. Brendon E. Gallant who delivered the homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and farewell. The pall was placed over her casket by her 5 daughters: Joan, Linda, Mary, Eleanor and Annie. The pascal candle was lit by her great grandson, Brett Buote. The first reading was addressed by great granddaugh­ter, Sharron Tieri. The second reading was addressed by granddaugh­ter, Kaylee Gavin. The prayers of the faithful were invited by granddaugh­ter, Linddsey Omelon. The gifts were presented at the altar by granddaugh­ters, Amanda DesRoches, Cassidy Smith and Kara Buote. The Eucharisti­c ministers were nieces, Paula MacDonald and Patsy Harper. The crucifer was Clarence Gallant. The candle bearers were Albert Shea and Louis Shea. The altar server was Charles Bernard. The choir was under the direction of the organist, Diane Handrahan. The cantor was Vincent Doucette. The procession­al hymn was “Amazing Grace”. The Psalm was “Rest In God Alone, Rest In God Alone My Soul, My Soul”. The offertory hymn was “Be Not Afraid”. The communion hymn solo, “Abide With Me”, was sung by Vincent Doucette. The post communion hymn was “Immaculate Mary”. The song of farewell was “Songs Of The Angels”. The recessiona­l hymn was “How Great Thou Art”. The active pallbearer­s were grandsons: Scott Buote, Joey Buote, Brett Buote, Kyle Omelon, Michael Omelon, and grandson in law, Carmin Lammoureux. The flower bearers were granddaugh­ters and great granddaugh­ters: Lisa Omelon, Maddie Jo Gavin, Kynnedi Gavin, Cassidy Smith, Josee Lamoureux, Chantel Lamoureux, Kara Buote and Sophie Buote. Interment was in the church cemetery with Rev. Brendon E. Gallant officiatin­g.
