It has been a busy first year at Kinkora Regional High School (KRHS) for Cole DesRoche.

The 15-year-old son of Trent and Tanya DesRoche of BordenCarleton has been named the school’s Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month after representing the Blazers in four different P.E.I. School Athletic Association (PEISAA) sports

The Grade 9 student ran in cross-country in the fall, played singles and doubles in badminton and was a centre with the Blazers’ hockey team in the annual high school hockey tournament during the winter, and is competing in track and field in the spring. At the zone badminton championships, Cole finished second in singles and teamed with Keaton Norring to win doubles and advance to the provincial championships.

Cole also had two first-place finishes in running events at the recent Zone 2 track and field meet.

Great badminton season

“Cole had a great badminton season this year for the Blazers,” said KRHS athletic director Trent Ranahan. “He is very dedicated to all sports he is involved with, and has a high work ethic. He is a valuable asset to all his teams.”

Outside of school, Cole plays midget A hockey with the Southside Lynx.

Cole’s future plans following graduation from high school are undecided.
