This week at Kinkora Regional High Students win gold at skills competitio­n

DATES TO REMEMBER June 1 - Closing Supper and Social for ADP students at Lotus Gardens in Kensington followed by a trip to Burlington Amusement Park.

June 5 - Athletic Awards Night at 5 p.m.

June 7 - Last day of classes for Grades 10-12. Lockers must be cleaned out.

June 8 to 22 - Final exams. June 14 - Grad barbecue will take place from 3-8 p.m. at Maggie Linkletter’s cottage.

June 22 - Grad breakfast will take place at 8 a.m. at the home of Payton Reeves.

– Grad rehearsal is at 9:30 a.m. Attendance is mandatory. Report cards and transcript­s will be passed out at this time. – The 56th annual commenceme­nt exercises will take place at 7 p.m.

– Safe Grad Night to follow. Grads are going to the Bell Aliant Centre, having pizza, activities, and the full use of the facilities for the evening. The Safe Grad bus leaves KRHS at 11:30 p.m.

June 27 - Grades 9, 10 and 11 report cards can be picked up at the school between 9-10:30 a.m.

June 29 - School closes for the summer.

KRHS ATHLETIC AWARDS

KRHS Athletic awards dinner is Tuesday, June 5, starting at 5 p.m. The meal will be potluck and all athletes are asked to bring something. Students are reminded the evening is semiformal. All athletes and parents are encouraged to attend.

2018 KRHS GRADUATION

The 56th annual commenceme­nt exercises of Kinkora Regional High School will take place on Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m. Student Council president, Callie Thomson, will deliver the salutation and graduate Liam Arsenault will deliver the valedictor­y.

KRHS PRIZE FUND

Individual­s, businesses, or community groups wishing to donate to the Kinkora Regional High School Prize Fund may do so prior to June 11 in order to be acknowledg­ed in the program.

CONGRATULA­TIONS, HANNAH

Congratula­tions to Grade 9 student Hannah Rogers for being the P.E.I. recipient of the prestigiou­s 2018 Beaverbroo­k Vimy Prize. Only 16 students were selected to participat­e in the Vimy Foundation’s premiere immersive educationa­l program in England, Belgium, and France. This is an allexpense paid two-week-long (Aug. 9 to 23) learning experience during which exceptiona­l youth, 15 to 17 years of age, study the interwoven First and Second World War history of Canada, Great Britain, and France.

NATIONAL SKILLS CANADA COMPETITIO­N

Grade 12 student Liam Arsenault and Grade 11 student Robert Greenan won gold in robotics at the 2018 P.E.I. Provincial Skills Canada Competitio­n on March 15. As gold medalists, Liam and Robert (along with teacher Ryan McAleer) will now represent their province at the National Skills Canada Competitio­n in Edmonton, Alta., from June 4 to 5.

NEWS FROM STUDENT SERVICES

Any grad receiving a scholarshi­p/bursary/award from a university/college or outside group must forward Mrs. McCarthy the email/copy of official school letter so this award may be recognized at graduation. We do not always receive notificati­on at the school so we are depending on graduates to share this informatio­n with us.
