Cory Tetford to perform at Harmony House this weekend
Newfoundland-born, Halifaxbased musician, Cory Tetford will perform at Harmony House Theatre this Saturday night. Joining him on pedal steel guitar will be singer-songwriter, Chris Ledrew of Newfoundland. At the June 2 show, starting at 8 p.m., Tetford will perform songs from his second solo CD, “In the Morning,” which features the voice and songwriting of a man raised on gospel and country music with stellar musicianship and guitar skills honed in countless performances nationally and internationally over the past 25 years. The album was co-produced by Tetford and his friend and musical collaborator, Alan Doyle. The songs speak to Tetford’s influences and experiences on and off stage. They follow the 1999 release of his critically acclaimed debut solo, “Grace,” and two releases with award-winning roots rock band, Crush, featuring Tetford and fellow musician, Paul Lamb. As a player, singer, engineer and producer, Tetford has worked on dozens of other recordings and has toured with Matt Andersen, Ron Hynes, Damhnait Doyle and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. Accompanist Ledrew’s music has received widespread international radio play, and he has performed all over North America in clubs, concert halls, arenas, and on national radio/television shows. He has opened for the likes of Bryan Adams, Blue Rodeo, Tragically Hip, April Wine, The Stampeders, and many more. LeDrew’s songs have appeared on over a dozen East Coast recordings as well as in Canadian/ American TV and film. Also an accomplished pedal steel guitarist, he’s been a session player on over 50 East Coast albums. Tickets for the show are $20 plus HST and can be purchased online through the venue website or by calling 1-888-3119090.
