New role for Elisha – working the window

Tim Hortons Camp Day draws celebrity presence

Employees at the Kensington Tim Hortons had a new coworker on site to celebrate Camp Day, actress Elisha Cuthbert. Cuthbert, known for her roles in Netflix’s “The Ranch”, ABC’s “Happy Endings” and Fox’s “24”, spent a portion of the afternoon handing out orders through the establishment’s drive-thru window. “I kinda said I didn’t want to be in their way since they knew what they were doing and are way ahead of me and that I want to sell as much coffee as possible. So, they put me by the window and I’ve been handing it out. It’s been a lot of fun.” “Because it’s a small community, the people coming to the window are used to the familiar faces. So, it was interesting when some people would pull up and go ‘Who the hell are you?’” she said with a laugh. When Cuthbert was asked to participate in Camp Day on June 6, she was allowed to choose the location. “There’s no better Timmies to go to. I visit the Kensington location every day when we’re on the Island. So, it was nice to come and see the people and work in the community. “It’s been lovely.”

Cuthbert says on top of learning how to properly glaze a donut, she learned how hard the staff members work. “So many people came through, just in the hour I was here. “And it’s a great place because you’re just interacting with your community. And then on top of it, getting to raise money for all of the camps is great.” About five months ago, Cuthbert and her husband Dion Phaneuf, a defenceman on NHL’s Los Angeles Kings, welcomed their first child, a little girl named Zaphire. “Camp Day is a great initiative. It gives kids the opportunity to have fun in a great environment. And now with a kid of my own, it makes it even more special. Knowing how much a camp like this can do for a kid’s self-esteem is really amazing.” Cuthbert and her “The Ranch” cast mates are waiting for the launch of the fourth part of the popular series coming this month. Filming for Part 5 will begin in September. “It was a little tricky being pregnant last season. But we’ve got new episodes coming out. We’re pretty excited.” Cuthbert and her family plan to spend the summer on the Island and fill it with family time, boating, fishing and gardening. “The summer goes by so quick and we’ve waited all winter for it. Dion and I get a recharge when we come here so we love coming back and being with friends and family.” Cuthbert says the couple likes to go to the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers, The Pearl and into Dalvay by the Sea for food.
