Campbell and Dunsford share stage at Winsloe United Ceilidh

-

Island musicians Susan Campbell and Terry Dunsford will be joining Colleen MacPhee, host of the Winsloe United Church Ceilidh, for Monday night’s concert. Singing comes naturally for Campbell as she has been performing in bands since the age of 15 with various groups in the Souris area. Originally from Dundas, she performs at many ceilidhs and entertains the seniors at the Bay View Lodge in Souris. A resident of Stratford, she also sings the anthem at some of the Islanders hockey games. Dunsford has been entertaining audiences for many years and brings lots of energy to his performance. In 1973, P.E.I.’s centennial year, Dunsford was invited by the provincial government to represent the Island in a crosscountry tour to promote the anniversary of P.E.I.’s entry into Confederation. During that time he performed for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip. Dunsford was also a member of the popular dance bands the Blue Crystals, Ryder, and The Classics which was a part of the Christmas event, “Jingle Bell Rock.” He continues to perform as a solo artist as well as with various groups such as The Dunsford Boys and Still Rockin’ playing songs from the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and today. His repertoire encompasses every style of music from country, pop, classic rock and roll to Irish singalong songs. His tremendous vocal range allows him to sing beautiful ballads such as Roy Orbison’s “Crying,” to great Irish classics such as “Danny Boy,” to today’s dance and singalong songs like “Wagon Wheel.” MacPhee who is a member of Lady Singers of our Century, will be performing songs from a variety of different artists. The June 11 ceilidh starts at 7:30 p.m. This is a fundraiser for the Winsloe United Church, a wheelchair accessible venue located at 121 Winsloe Rd. Tickets are $10 at the door with doors opening at 6:30. There will be a light lunch served.
