Low-speed collision in Alberton

The driver of a delivery truck was taken to hospital to be checked over Tuesday morning after his vehicle veered off Church Street in Alberton, up onto a sidewalk and came to rest against a utility pole. An investigat­ing officer on the scene said police are considerin­g the possibilit­y a medical issue might have been a contributi­ng cause to the low-speed collision. Cst. Phil Skiffingto­n said the driver was alert and exhibited no physical injuries. The front bumper of the truck sustained a small dent. The collision is still under investigat­ion. Police, ambulance and firefighte­rs responded to the collision after a passing firefighte­r observed the incident unfold.
