Jeff Squires and K.J. White will take on the coaching reins for the Central Attack major bantam hockey club for the 2018-19 season. The Attack is coming off its best season in franchise history with a 21-6-3 record and a firstplace finish in the regular season. The team lost to the Western Warriors in Game 5 of the provincial final. The team has high expectations for the coming year with a core group of returnees and a strong group of players moving up from peewee. “K.J. and I are very excited with the opportunity to coach at the bantam AAA level this year,” Squires said. “We feel very confident that there is a talented and motivated group of players that will make up the 2018-2019 Central Attack team. We have a great reputation in P.E.I. of having competitive teams that will compete at a very high level within Atlantic Canada. “We are looking forward to announcing training camp details and starting to build some excitement around our upcoming season.” Squires and White are well known in hockey circles and have strong coaching resumes for minor hockey with experience at the Maritime junior, Canada Games and Atlantic University Sport levels. Squires moves up from the Charlottetown peewee AAA Abbies where his teams have played in three consecutive Atlantic championships with back-toback bronze medals in 2016 and 2017. White had a stellar playing career with five years in the Ontario Hockey League and two years at UPEI. After his playing days, White transitioned into the role of coach and educator. He is currently the principal of Queen Charlotte Junior High School and has been a volunteer coach on the male and female side of minor hockey in Sherwood and Charlottetown since the early 2000s.
