Fields set for Governor’s Plate eliminations at Summerside Raceway on Sunday

The field for the 50th running of the Governor’s Plate will be decided on Sunday afternoon. Two fields of seven will compete in the $5,000 elimination races at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway. The top four finishers from each race will advance to the Governor’s Plate on Saturday, July 14. Do Over Hanover, who has drawn the rail and will be driven by Jason Hughes in the second elimination in Race 12, is looking to win back-to-back Governor’s Plates. The five-year-old bay gelding by Western Ideal-Driven to Sin-Jennas Beach Boy won the 49th edition of Prince County’s most prestigious standardbred race in 1:53.2. Post time for the 12-dash card is set for 1 p.m.
