Fields set for Governor’s Plate eliminatio­ns at Summerside Raceway on Sunday

The field for the 50th running of the Governor’s Plate will be decided on Sunday afternoon. Two fields of seven will compete in the $5,000 eliminatio­n races at Red Shores at Summerside Raceway. The top four finishers from each race will advance to the Governor’s Plate on Saturday, July 14. Do Over Hanover, who has drawn the rail and will be driven by Jason Hughes in the second eliminatio­n in Race 12, is looking to win back-to-back Governor’s Plates. The five-year-old bay gelding by Western Ideal-Driven to Sin-Jennas Beach Boy won the 49th edition of Prince County’s most prestigiou­s standardbr­ed race in 1:53.2. Post time for the 12-dash card is set for 1 p.m.
